Life can be pretty busy when you have kids. Finding time to fit in fitness and eating healthy while running a household isn’t always easy. Life just never stops. Baby Steps to improve your health can be the easiest way to keep on top it. One way I get in my fit time is I “fit” it in with play time. One of my favorite ways to do this is by jumping rope with my kids. We all grab a jump rope, and have mini competitions. Sometimes it’s who can jump the longest, or the fastest or we get out the extra long one and see how many of us can jump at once! It’s a real riot and a cardio workout too.
Getting a healthy start to your day can be a huge benefit to your overall health and wellness. How many times have skipped breakfast and then snacked on something that was handy, but not necessarily healthy. If you start your day right random snacking is a lot less likely. Always the start the day with something in your stomach. I am not a morning eater but I always start the morning with a bottle of water and a small piece of fruit. Later in the morning, I will have my cereal.

I start with a blender drink of yogurt, juice, frozen fruit and (weird but true) a couple of spoons of cooled cooked oatmeal which makes this very creamy.
I always drink a glass of warm water first thing in the morning and then I will have cereal with milk and two pieces of toast as my breakfast so that I will full of energy to start my day!

Yes, I admit I am rushed in the mornings, but I make it point to have yogurt and fresh fruit. Sometimes I mix a bit of cereal into in and I am energized.

I get my healthy start to the day by eating eggs in the morning. Protein for breakfast keeps you going. I don’t eat bowls of cereal (but the rest of my family does). The Honey Clusters are my favourite Fiber One cereal and I enjoy eating those in yogurt.

I exercise first thing in the morning – I think it boosts my metabolism and it gives me more energy to face the day!
I like to eat a large breakfast rather than a large dinner. I find when I eat really big portions at night I can’t get a great sleep so a lighter fare is really the way to go.

To get a health start for the day, mix fresh fruit and/or nuts to cereal or hot oatmeal. It contains fibre and will fill you up til lunch.
Always get up early enough to have breakfast (I know it is HARD, I love my sleep t00. Make breakfast easy and ahead of time if possible – whole wheat muffins with fruit already cut up.
