DIY Microwave Popcorn

I love snacking on popcorn. It’s filling, low in calories if you skip the butter, or at least keep it to a minimum and according to research healthy for you too!  I don’t have an air popper so I make my popcorn in the microwave.   It’s super easy, fast and best part is this will give you the perfect serving size for one person.

What you need:

1 brown paper lunch bag
1/4 cup popcorn kernels

Put the un-popped kernels in the paper bag and tape it shut.  Place in microwave and cook on high for 1 minute 48 seconds or until there is 3 seconds in between pops.  Pull out and enjoy!

A friend bought a bowl from Walmart as a hostess gift — it pops popcorn in the microwave without oil or butter and I use it all the time.

This is genius! I made microwave popcorn for my kids last week and I couldn not get over how darn salty it was. I am going to do this instead so I can control the salt and butter. Thanks!

What if I marinate the popcorn kernels with honey first, before putting them into the bag and microwave? Is it alright to do so? How long should I marinate?

Just don’t be THAT person in the office. Listen for the pop beat, when it changes, STOP.
PS I’ve got well over 300 successful office made popcorn days.
Instead of tape, I cut and dog ear the bag.
