For those who aren’t familiar with Save The Children they are a global organization that bring help and hope to those in need. Their event, The Extra Plate was well attended and very well-organized.
The keynote speaker was Pulitzer Prize winning author Sheryl WuDunn. She spoke about female inequality around the world. It was very eye-opening. You can hear some of what she spoke about in the first five minutes of her Ted talk (but you will be so interested in what she has to say you will listen to the whole 15 mins).
She then went on to moderate a panel that discussed child hunger issues globally and how educating mothers is a key part of the solution. We also learned through the viewing of this video just how far $40 can go.
Did you know that forty Canadian dollars can feed a child for a month? To find out more visit http://www.savethechildren.ca. Once you finish learning more about Saver the Children, enter their twitter Contest where you can win a prize just be tweeting the answer to the question: What were you afraid of as a child to @SaveChildrenCan.
It was a very impactful event and we are very grateful to Kristen of Save The Children who gave us the opportunity to meet the panelists to discuss what we had just learned, and we made a new friend along the way! Also we would like to thank Julia for giving us this opportunity to connect with this wonderful organization.
