Get to Know Canadian Blogger Ashley

Tell us about yourself

My name is Ashley – I have been married to Jason for 6 years, and we have 2 very busy, rambunctious little boys – Julien is 4, and Kyle is 1.5. I love to cook, bake and really enjoy cake decorating.

Tell us about your blog? What do you blog about?

I have been blogging since August 2008 – it started off as a way to share pictures of Julien and what he had been up to with family and friends. Early in 2011, I somehow ended up falling into reviews and giveaways and things have progressed from there. I write about life with my kids, activities that we do as a family, recipes we like and I offer product reviews and giveaways too. The title of the blog is Tales of Mommyhood.

What do you hope to get out of blogging? And what do you hope to give your readers?

Blogging lets me get things out – I don’t always publish what I write – sometimes things are a little too personal, but for the most part I let my readers into my life. I hope that my readers enjoy my views on life, and that the reviews/giveaways I publish are useful to them.

How do you unwind?

To unwind, I like to relax in a bubble bath with a glass of wine and a good book; if that’s not possible then watching a movie with my hubby.

What is your biggest motivator behind working with brands?

I like to find new and innovative products; if I can offer my readers items that can help them, or that I think they might like – then I love to do it. I don’t just want to work with any brand – I want to build relationships with the brand and continue the working relationship long after the review/giveaway has been posted.

Favorite song at the moment?

I have too many to name. One of my all time favorites is Blueberry Hill – my dad and I used to dance to that song when I was a little girl – so it holds very special memories for me.

Favorite TV show?

I am a big fan of Days of our Lives – I have pretty much watched it all my life. I also love Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, The Mentalist and my hubby got me watching Swamp People.

What is the strangest talent you have?

Not sure if you would call it a talent, but I can touch my nose with my tongue.

What would your significant other want to tell us?

My hubby would tell you that I am obsessed with Harrison Ford – he is my favorite actor and hubby always jokes that I would leave him for Harrison Ford should the opportunity arise.

Sweet or Salty snacks?

I like both, but I have a real sweet tooth and LOVE to bake – there is always something home-baked in my kitchen, and that makes it hard to resist.

Favorite beverage?

My favorite alcoholic beverage would be a Strawberry Daiquiri or Amaretto Sour; my favorite non-alcoholic beverage is Iced Tea.

Have you traveled? Where?

I have never left North America, but I have been to Florida 3 times – once in high school with my mom and brother, and then for our honeymoon Jason and I went to Disneyworld – which we also revisited with our children and his parents for our 5th anniversary! I have also been out to Nova Scotia twice – once as a child for a family reunion, and when I was 23.

What is your favorite movie?

I can’t name one. Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing, Grease, There Goes my Baby, Man in the Moon – those are movies that I can watch over and over. When I was young, I actually remember watching Grease a few times a day…love the music!

I love that you do this, showcase a blogger we might not know. Blueberry Hill is one of my favorite songs as well, reminds me of the Fonz on happy days. Awesome post! :)
