Popcorn and Oscar Predictions

I won’t be hosting an Oscar Party this year, but I will be watching them.  Who can resist checking out the dresses, jewelry and the dapper men.  I just love a man in a suit.  This year as usual I haven’t been able to catch all the Oscar nominated Films, but that doesn’t stop me from having an opinon as to who is going to win.  So in my best Oracle voice …

Here are my predictions for the Oscars

Best Picture – War Horse
Actor in a leading role – Jean Dujardin
Actress in a leading role – Meryl Streep
Actor in a supporting role – Max Von Sydow
Actress in a supporting role – Octavia Spencer

Granted I haven’t seen any of the movies so I am just guessing.  This year that will change because thanks to my friends at Life Made Delicious I have a little help.  For a limited time on specially marked boxes of your favorite General Mills products get a code that you can redeem towards a free movie pass at Cineplex Odeon.

If you are planning a get together, or even just a family event, Life Made Delicious has your party food ideas covered.  I may even break out the Pillsbury dough and surprise the kids with a special before bed snack.  The kids love it when I go off the norm.

If I was throwing a party this is what I would include in my party going fare:

These Cheesy Crescent Nachos look divine:

Because you can never have too much cheese.

The Ham and Cheese Pinwheels I made last month are mouth-watering:

And to top off the evening I would microwave some popcorn and add some of my very special spicy seasoning.

To make the popcorn you need:

2 tsp butter or margarine or to taste
small paper lunch bag
Plain Popcorn – you can pop 1/4 cup kernels in a paper bag (tape shut) for about 1 minute 47 seconds (or until each pop is more than 3 seconds apart)
Seasoning (mix together in small bowl or spice container)

4 tsp salt
2 tsp paprika
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp ground thyme
1 tsp pepper
1/4-1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2-2/3 tsp garlic powder

Mix together butter,  and popcorn in the paper bag shaking well then add in spices to taste.  You don’t need much.

The best part is you can make individual bags for each guest and serve as is.  If you are feeling really creative get the kids to decorate the bags before hand.

Will you be hosting an Oscar soirée?

I actually think War Horse will get the snub this year… I love the OSCARS and watch all the movies every year… I think The Artist might win.. but would prefer to see The Help win just saying…

I also think there is a chance George Clooney might win best actor they academy loves him… but I don’t think he deserves it for this role so Jean Dujardin is who I am pulling for.

I am hoping Meryl Streep doesn’t win…I would love to see it go to Viola Davis.

Actor in supporting role… I think will go to Christopher Plummer with Max being a possible upset.

    Enjoy the awards!!!
