Getting to Know Canadian Business – Cooking Greens

Rushed for time? Cookin’ Greens™ by The Toby Brand™ understands that and is dedicated to making dark leafy greens, something that is both healthy and delicious, easy to put on your plate.  Their dark-leafy greens are farm picked and within six hours, double-washed, double blanched, chopped and quick-frozen. This process locks in all of their flavour and nutritional benefits.

I had a chance to try the Kale and Designers Mix over the past week and I was impressed.  In fact I like it so much I may just go out of my way to get more.   The Kale was especially good with almost a sweet flavor.  I prepared it on the stove and in the microwave with equally good results, added a bit of butter and a pinch of salt and could have eaten the whole package myself.  Luckily I’m a good Mom and shared my leafy greens with the family.

The Designer’s Mix, a blend of collard, rapini and spinach mixed with cut yellow beans and diced sweet onions was as equally easy to prepare and eat.  This particular mix has more of an expected dark leafy green taste, a bit sharp, but still very good.  I imagine this would be a great blend mixed with a bit of Parmesan or other cheese.

They also make an athletes blend, chopped rapini and spinach.  Chopped collard and mustard greens plus an artists mix are coming soon.

Visit their store locator to find out where you can pick some up to try for yourself.
