There is one thing that never fails to brings to my mind the holiday season and that is the Coca-Cola’s Polar bears. I know it sounds odd, but the bears and Coca-Cola’s iconic red cans have been a part of Christmas for as long as I can remember and that first commercial seems to herald in the official start to the season.
This year Coca-Cola is giving back to the bears that have been such a huge part of those Christmas commercials by donating 2 million dollars to the WWF over the next five years and supporting their efforts at setting aside a “last ice” habitat. Not only that but for every donation made to the WWF through Coca-Cola’s Arctic Home** site they will match it up to 1 million dollars until March 15, 2012!
This year, more than most, the plight of the Polar bears has seemed to be in the forefront of the news. It’s no surprise really, with 2/3 of Polar bears living up here in the Great White North they not only are an important part of our ecosystem but have also become an integral part of our culture. With climate change affecting their habitats and their very existence getting them to areas where sea ice will persist the longest is their best chance at survival. The WWF is working towards that goal by finding and maintaining a habitat that will sustain the bears populations while also respecting the cultural needs and economic needs of the native communities.

One of my favourite holiday memories is from my childhood when we would celebrate Christmas at my grandparents. All of us cousins would eagerly await the goodie bag my grandparents handed out every year.

Every Christmas we would put money in on something our parents want & have them open it & take pictures of them with the present. Now that we are all grown we barely see each other. We don’t do any of the stuff we used to do. I miss it!

I am having a hard time isolating it to one memory. Every year, as the kids gets older, new ones are created. Family time, watching wide eyes, and everyone grow in their own direction are the best memories. I am so proud of my family.

My favourite Christmas memory took place 31 years ago this Christmas when our son was born. That was and still is the best Christmas we ever had. This year he has a little girl all his own to build his memories with and I am sure this will be his best Christmas.

One of my favourite memmories is that no matter where my siblings, parents, grandparents were over the years, we always came back to my grandparents and shared Christmas dinner every year with all of the families. Sadly my grandma is no in a nursing home and her house just sold so it won’t be at her house – we’ll have to find somewhere new to gather!

My favourite Holiday memory is when our family used to go and cut the tree. Dad would pick the tree out (we got it from our own land) and groom it throughout the summer. We would all go with him to cut the tree and haul it out of the woods. While Dad set the tree up in the living room, Mum made hot chocolate and we roasted marshmallows over the fire in the fireplace. I can still remember what the tree smelled like.

My favorite Holiday memory is waking up on Christmas morning and getting to open presents with my family. After all the presents are opened my dad would take my brother and I skating for a couple hours. It was an amazing and memorable day. I love spending time with my family during the holidays. Supper time was one of my favorite times Roast, mash potatoes, corn, hots buns with gravy mmmmm yum!

My favorite holiday memory would have to be the whole Coke, Polar Bears, and Santa … my name being Nicole I always had an aunt that called me Cola … so for as long as I can remember and especially at Christmas time, I was amazed by all the holiday Coke items that were for sale (and that I got for Christmas). I loved the Polar Bears and still do (have the first one with a santa hat on it that I got for Christmas when I was young)!

My favorite holiday memory was with my son on his first Christmas, he played with wrapping paper for hours, didnt even notice all the fun stuff santa had brought him! I will never forget that day, it always brings a smile to my face!

Oh my word. Just had to jump at entering this because if there’s one thing I LOVE about Christmas it’s the POLAR BEAR’s/commercials that Coke does every year.
SO cute!
My favourite holiday memory was in 2008 because that was the year that my daughter was born (baby’s 1st Christmas). What made it even more memorable was that my sister & brother also had their first babies 2 months after me (october) so Christmas was filled with 3 of our family members first babies.

My favorite holiday memory…That would have to be the year I was 23. I had moved away from home the year before and came to visit for the holidays. I went to a house party with my uncle on christmas eve, and walking home at 3 am christmas morning with him is something I’ll never forget. How quiet it was, how you could feel the christmas magic in the air. Of course, being woken up 3 hours later by family members to open gifts wasn’t such a highlight lol.
